Field Crew Member

We are seeking hard-working,  positive individuals who are motivated by an interest in sustainable agriculture. Crew members participate in many of the farm’s daily operations, including facets of production, harvest, and retail. Field crew members will assist the field manager with all daily farm tasks. 

The crew member position is seasonal, with flexible start and end dates between April and December. Hours range from 40-50 hours per week, (8-10 hour days, 5 days per week). Applicants should be prepared to lift upwards of 50lbs repeatedly and work in all weather conditions.  Previous farming experience is required. 
 

Responsibilities

Production

• Planting, including greenhouse propagation and mechanical transplanting

• Cultivation/weed-control by hand and hoe

• Field work such as trellising, pruning, fencing, and thinning

Harvest

• Daily harvest of our 100+ varieties of vegetables, fresh herbs, and sunflowers

• Post-harvest handling, including washing, packing, and distribution

Sales & Distribution

• Preparation and packing of retail order for our farm stand. 

• Sales and customer service at future farmers’ markets

COMPENSATION this position is : hourly, $15-20/hr

Farm Store Position

​

Out Post is looking for a retail sales associate to work in our busy on-site market. 

As a market associate you will be responsible for maintaining  market displays, bagging fresh produce, stocking shelves and ringing up customers. This is a great opportunity to learn more about  farming, gain valuable experience in farm market sales, and work alongside a dedicated team who work hard, but have fun while doing it! We're looking for hard workers who thrive in a fast-paced environment, are passionate about food and learning, and want a fun and rewarding workplace. Job Responsibilities:

• Interacting with our market customers and market share members, providing excellent customer service. 

• Maintain knowledge of all in-season produce that we sell.

• Operate a point of sales system, handling cash, updating inventory stock. 

• Able to prioritize restocking, pricing inventory, and keeping the store looking fresh and fully stocked at all times. Must be able to lift large boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.

• Create and maintain attractive signage and displays in the market.

• Follow all CDC Covid guidelines while working in the market/farm. 

Our Ideal Candidate: 

• Minimum 1 year of experience working at a farmer's market or 1 year of retail experience specifically in a grocery/market setting. 

• Is ready to hustle and enjoys fast paced work and able to serve a rush of customers while projecting good spirits.

• An excellent communicator, enjoys engaging with customers and answering questions about produce, recipe suggestions, etc. 

• Able to work at least one weekend day per week.

Schedule:

• Must be available to work at least 3-5 days a week including either a Saturday or Sunday.

• The position starts in April and runs through the end of November with potential for part-time work throughout the winter months. 

Compensation:

• $14.50 / hour as starting wage or more depending on experience

• Workers' Compensation, Unemployment Insurance, Paid Family Leave and Paid Sick Leave

COMPENSATION this position is : hourly, varies DOE, $14.00 - $16.00
